All Peter Swanson's work is reduction and is fired in a gas kiln. Many of Peter's pots are glazed with glazes made from unusual plant ashes. Ashes used include Wheat Straw, Japanese Knot Weed, recycled Thatch Reeds and Lavender Ash. Each ash gives a different result.

BOTTLE VASE
Stoneware bottle with green ash glaze, incised pattern in-filled with a copper red glaze. In my opinion Peter's bottle forms are some of the best being made by any potter working in England. This example with its full form and wonderfully proportioned neck is one of his best.
