JOHN
LEACH is one of the foremost potters
working in England today, he is the son of David Leach OBE and grandson
of one of the founding fathers of studio ceramics Bernard Leach
John was born in Pottery Cottage at the Leach Pottery, St.Ives.
After an apprenticeship with David Leach 1956-62 and followed by
a workshop in California he founded his own pottery at Muchelney,
Somerset in 1964. At first only producing a range of well made and
designed cook and tableware.
In 1983 he felt confident enough to start to make his own designed
and individually signed work. These pieces are all from the late
03 firing and represent some of John's most mature and significant
pots.

Bottle
Vase:
Stoneware bottle by John Leach. In my
opinion this is a most wonderful thrown and turned bottle. The form
is after Bernard Leach, it does though illustrate just how good
a potter John Leach is.
