Stoneware Shino Glazes
LIZ BOWE'S glazes have been
developed over many years, she has several shino glazes, each of
which has a different surface quality these shino glazes are use
in combination, building up several layers of glaze to achieve a
variety of subtle variations in depth tone and surface qualities.
Liz's aim is to achieve an individual response through the application
and firing.
All work is fired to cone 9/10 1280° to 1300 °C through
a reduction atmosphere.In 2006 Maggie Barnes arranged for Liz Bowe
to work in collaboration with the French Master Potter Vincent Potier
in Sauve, South of France. Potier is an international prize-winning
ceramicist specialising in Shino type glazes. Liz worked in his
studio during October 2006 returning again in January and February
of 2008.
