Anagama Fired Stoneware
Nic
Collins is one of the leading UK potters'
using wood as a fuel and firing in a anagama type kiln. Nic uses
locally sourced North Devon clays, much of his work relies on the
ash and flame markings that are a result of four day firings. This
type of work is known aa Yohen in Japan. Through a long and protracted
firing Nic achieves the build up of the ask glaze and the flame
flash colour on his pots.
Oakwoodceramics
are delighted to exhibit teabowls by Nic Collins. These two bowls
were personally selected by Nic and are two exceptionally good pieces.
Both have a shino glazed interior.
