Ian Gregory

Oakwoodceramics with these rare yunomi by Ian Gregory are again offering something a little special. Ian Gregory is known to many for his figurative salt-glazed stoneware, to view some of this type of work elsewhere on our site click here. These salt-glazed yunomi have like Mo Jupp's yunomi also exhibited in the Teabowl section have been made by Ian at the request of oakwood ceramics.
In the 70's Ian first started to experiment with salt-glazing for both his large sculptural and small modelling work. A model Chest of Drawers dated 1980 can be seen in the V&A collection number235.

Exclusive:
In 1980 Ian was asked by Janet Leach to produce a stoneware salt-glazed model of a Leach Kick Wheel, he made 6 one of which can be seen here I first saw the original when staying with Ian. I thought it wonderful and asked Ian if he would consider making me one. The result is an edition of twenty-five. This new edition are not just copies of the original, Ian has taken the models further with much more detailing and some references to Bernard Leach incorporated into each model. All are subtly different . To find out more click on the image.
