The Leach Pottery
Cruet Set made mid-seventy's St.Ives, Cornwall

Porcelain, celadon glaze, Impressed SI the mark of the Leach Pottery.
This beautiful 3 piece cruet set glazed in the Leach Pottery celadon is a delight to behold. Very rare to see the full 3 piece set still together. This cruet set was one of the many items produced for the standard ware range produced at the pottery from the late 40's up to 1979.

China, (anonymous)
Finely potted porcelain saucer dish, circa 1970's

This wonderful shallow dish, technically is an emulation of a Yongsheng piece and has a spurious double circle circle mark of the period.
Never the less, though not a genuine 17th century piece, it illustrates the consummate potting and glazing skills that where still available in post revolutionary China in the late 20th century. Decorated with two deep red cherries.

John Maltby
Slab Rolled and Press Moulded Wall Piece 1985

Stoneware, glaze and over-fired enamels. This wonderful dish/wall piece is decorated with a view of St.Ives Cornwall, though at first glance Maltby's style seems abstract, on closer examination one can see that in fact the scenes he portrays are beautifully observed studies. This wall piece shows the three main bays of St.Ives and has the chapel that stands on the headland known as the Island accurately placed. The half moon in over-fired silver is correctly positioned setting in the west over Clodgy Point. Sublime!!
Previously in the Daniel Jacob and Derek Mason Collection in the USA, now returned to England

Size: width 40.5cm depth 33.0cm

The Leach Pottery
Mortar and Pestle, made mid-seventy's St.Ives, Cornwall

Stoneware, celadon glaze, Impressed SI the mark of the Leach Pottery.
This is an unusual item from the Leach Pottery. Though the standard range did include a Mortar & Pestle, it was a different design to this example illustrated here. I think that in all probability that this form was perhaps a prototype. Impressed SI and England to both Mortar and the Pestle.
