Sue John
was one of a number of brilliant young potters who emerged from
The Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in the mid seventies. Ian
Auld became Head of Ceramics in 1974. In a very short time thereafter
a number of young and gifted potters graduated, Sue Barrow, Sue
John. Henry Pim, Sara Radstone and Angus Suttie all in the same
year for example.
Ian Auld invited many visiting teaches, two of the most influencial
were Ewen Henderson and Colin Pearson.
Jug:
A rare and important anthropomorphic form jug by Sue John, this
jug is illustrated on the chapter 1 title page of "The New
Ceramics Trends + Traditions" by Peter Dormer (see detail
