Paul Young produces slip-glazed earthenware, fired either in an electric kiln or in a wood-fired down-draft kiln. The inspiration for his figure groups comes from the Pew Groups produced in the mid seventeen hundreds in and around the Potteries, Stoke on Trent.
His figures are wonderfully modeled, expressive, most carry a strong narrative element and exude the enjoyment of just being alive.

Jug:
I think Paul's jug form in earthenware is one of the best being made by any potter working today. Glorious form and decoration. His jugs show a real feel for the 17th century earthenware ceramic tradition that he takes his inspiration from.
