Jack lives and works on the north coast of Kent. His studio looks out over Whitstable Bay and the Swale Estuary which at low tide reveals a wonderful expanse of mud-flats of good clean London clay. He blends this with a variety of Devonshire and Staffordshire clays to produce his highfired stoneware.
He fires mainly with gas, but does use his wood kiln occasionally, as well as firing his work in the Rufford Anagama. Jack's glazes are made using ash from chestnut coppicing and orchard prunings, as well as local silts and clays, which produce a subtle range of colours.

Jack Kenny was apprenticed to the late Geoffrey Whiting at his Canterbury Pottery.
