John Mathieson
is a member of the CPA and makes mainly reduced stoneware pots
fired in a gas fueled kiln. John say's that his inspiration comes
from the ceramics of Michael Cardew, Richard Batterham, Clive
Bowen and 12th to 14th centuary Chinese Japanese and Korean ceramics.
He uses
a range of high fired glazes, celadons, tenmoku and various ash-glazes.
John's pots are all beautifully thrown and turned, many of his
forms are decorated with incising and ridges that add a strong
decorative feature to his work but also serve to excentuate the
forms.
John
Mathieson also has a small selection of yunomi and teabowls exhibited
in our Teabowl section, to view click here
