AMANDA
BRIER studied Art & Design at Portsmouth for three years 1994-97,
after completing the course she went on to study for a degree in Studio
Ceramics at Falmouth College of Art. Graduating in June 2000. In October
2000 she began working along side Trevor Corser and Joanna Wason at
The Leach Pottery St.Ives.
Amanda's work is placed very much in the Leach Pottery tradition as
one would expect. However she has developed in the four years at the
Leach her own quite distinctive voice. Making in both porcelain and
stoneware, she fires all her own work in Janet Leach's small gas kiln.
While Amanda has used many of the standard Leach Pottery glazes, she
has also developed her own glazes, these consist of a particularly
good copper red and a beautiful golden tenmoku, her forms are strong
and mature, and she has a good sense of proportion and form.

Flatterned

A strong bottle vase slightly flatterned with
an incised combed pattern to each face. Stoneware, glazed in an
under glaze grey and a thinly applied hakeme like wash. Impressed
