Crowan Pottery 1948-62
Coffee Set

Harry Davis worked at the Leach Pottery from 1933 until 1937, whilst there he met his future wife May. Harry was a brilliant thrower and trained David Leach to throw.
This coffee set is typical of the high quality production values that Harry and May Davis were responsible for and which they produced at the Crowan Pottery, Cornwall.
Harry Davis developed a very fine body clay which enabled them to make very thinly thrown and turned forms. This coffee set is glazed in one of the other distinctive qualities of the pottery's production, a beautiful celadon glaze.

Condition:
The set is fine apart from two of the cups have chips and the lid of the coffee pot has a very minor chip. Because of the fine throwing and sharpe thin edges it is very rare to find a totally perfect set. This set is as good as I have seen.

Size:
